2003 Jacket Holder of the Year: The Dirty Turk

It's History

The inspiration for the Jacket came form the Augusta golf tournament. The idea being that the winner of each poker game gets to wear the Jacket in the next game played. The Jacket therefore signifies strength and poker prowess.

The Logistics

If a player can win and defend the jacket three times in a row he gets to sew his own badge onto it. This is an eventuality that we all fear, and so far 2-Kings, The Dirty Turk and Buzz have had chances to do it but failed to complete the trilogy.

A ten times winner can sew his/her initials onto one of the sleeves of the jacket, as a mark of respect for hitting double figures.

Once a year, at the HighHander Christmas dinner, the number of Jacket wins is tallied, and the person with the most wins is awarded the HighHander Jacket Holder of the Year award. After this is awarded, the number of wins is reset so that another plucky highhander might try to reach this Godlike status.

Rules:

  • The holder can opt to play one game without playing for the Jacket. Then he/she is obligated to play for it.

  • The holder must be wearing the Jacket when defending it (what's the point otherwise).

  • A three times winner can sew any badge they wish onto the Jacket, as long as it is a sensible size.

  • A ten times winner can sew his/her initials onto one of the sleeves of the jacket, as a mark of respect for hitting double figures
