I gotta admit I need some help here updating this page as I've
been away from the country for about 3 years so am not really up
to date as to what has happened in that time.
I have got some details and photos but I'm currently adding those
- I felt it more important to get the site up and running. This
is a work in progress - watch this space.
Next event:
God knows. Still trying to recover from the last one!

Grand-in-the-Strand (October '03)
The Grand-in-the-Strand (G.I.T.S.) was probably the most ambitious
event to date, with 67 players vying for the 1,000 pounds 1st place
prize.
The HighHanders put on a good show, with a The Dirty Turk at the
final table, but unfortunately many of our fold were not smiled
upon by lady luck, and we didn't make the sort of impact deserved.
Don't worry HighHanders - we were just lulling them into a false
sense of security for next time!
I took a bunch of photos at the event (That's why I went out after
only a few hours - to take photos... that's how much I care) which
are available to see on the photos page.

Tournament rules
The Game:
This is a no limit Texas Hold'em tournament! Wild cards
are not allowed at any point even if the whole table wants
them. Wait till you're out and on the side tables for the
monkey games…
Buy-In
There will be the option of a 90min buy-in. This means
that for the first 90 minutes any player that goes out has
one chance to buy some more chips, 30 extra chips for £30.
NOTE: To qualify for this Buy-in you have to have lost all
your chips.
Table Merging
In this tournament tables are to be merged together the
moment there is a natural fit. So, a table with 5 players
left will be merged with a table with 3 players left to speed
things up and keep the poker exciting. This way you are rewarded
for playing quickly.
Re Draw:
Once there are 30 players left the poker will stop and
we will have a complete redraw.
Split Pots:
Pots only get split if hands are 100% identical. Therefore
kickers are all important when deciding a winner.
All-in:
When a player is all-in a side pot can be created if the
remaining players wish to continue betting.
Calling Hands:
In this tournament we let the cards do the talking. There
is therefore no risk of miss-calling.
Dealing Errors
Simple - If you're the dealer, then Don't Screw Up. If
the dealer makes an error dealing the pocket cards, then the
hand is redealt. If the dealer makes an error further into
the game you are in your right's to slap them about a bit.
Otherwise it's up to the players remaining in the hand to
sort this out. You're all big boys now, just try not to get
any of the dealers blood on the baize.
Chips
During the latter stages of the tournament we will be
swapping small denomination chips for larger ones to reduce
the number of physical chips in circulation. Players are not
allowed to argue about this. If you are asked to swap your
chips, you must. Remember, the value remains the same (eg
swap 50 single chips for one 50 chip).
Disputes:
Any dispute will be settled by the nearest organiser.
Rory Fyfe, Marcus Whately, Tom Leveritt or Simon Lovat. Having
said this, players who cause trouble for the organisers by
arguing about the rules during the tournament will not be
invited back to the next event. No kidding!
Side Tables:
As soon as there is an empty table you can start separate
games / side tables, with the other players already out of
the tournament.
