Once you get past the "sprint down a mountain towards
a precipice" method of takeoff, paragliding is a very
relaxing way to see the scenery.
The 'chair' you sit in is as comfy as any couch and the silence
is total as you sore through the thermals. With skill a paraglider
can stay in the air all day, searching for updrafts from the hills
and hotspots, but a tandem flight can only last about 20 minutes
at most.
I was tempted to take a course and get certified, but to be honest
I think I'd get bored of it after a while, or get too cocky and
face plant into a mountain.
Overall then, it's a comfy way to see the world from above and
well worth a go. Find out more about the company I went with in
Queenstown here.
