Where's the Photos?

After slacking for a while I have some photos available.

See them HERE.

Samoa sits in the middle of the Pacific and happily spends its days doing, well, bugger all. It's a sleepy set of islands and about as unhurried as a place can be without large doses of horse tranquillizers being pumped into the water supply. Great stuff.

I visited for a couple of weeks in the summer of 2003 (the same time I visited Tonga and Fiji) and traveled around with Chris enjoying the fine white sands, abundant coconuts, and remote little huts in about as romantic a setting as one can find on this planet.

Did I like Samoa? Well I guess so. It's very similar to Tonga in that the people are very very relaxed which can be both good and bad.

The islands themselves are also undoubtedly gorgeous, and I loved the volcanic landscape (there's big lumps of black lava covering the whole island).

It was lovely having a companion to share it all with too, and Chris and I hired a car on Savai'i island, seeing all the main areas in comfort.

Having our own transport was wonderful compared to our travels around the Upolu island on public busses! Now I'm proud to be a backpacker who always takes local transport, but after having been stuck for hours on a packed bus with wooden seats, bouncing along potholed roads with Chris on my lap and our bags on top of her, whilst suffering from a terrible flu/food poisoning, having the luxury of our own car was wonderful!

You can see the rest of the photos HERE.
