This page has now been superceeded by the Wedding pictures page, although for nostalgias sake I'll leave this page up. The nuptuals went perfectly and The Dodgy Barnet is very happily married.

It's all very surreal really. I'd been planning to propose to Tina for a good few months, but now that I've gone and done it, both of us are kind of shell-shocked - in a very good way of course. Kinda like winning the lottery I guess?

So it was on a cold and sunny Thursday that I went down on one knee in Prince's Island Park, Calgary.

We were walking around having a romantic stroll next to the river where I went down on one knee and proposed.

Thanks to the joy of Google Earth you can actually see the spot by clicking this link if you have the program installed.

So yes I asked the lovely Tina to marry me and she said Yes!

Well… actually she said:

Me:
[… a babble of love and devotion containing all the reasons why I love her, followed by …]
Tina, will you marry me?

Tina:
[tears and hysterical giggling] … Sure!

Me:
You can't just say "sure"!

Tina:
[more hysterics] … Okay!

Me:
[laughing too, then more babbling of love and expositions, followed by …] Bloody hell my knee hurts; these rocks are hard!

[stands up painfully chuckling] Come on then, answer properly!

Tina:
[more hysterics and cuddles]

Paul:
[giggling] Come on you fooker! Ha! Will you marry me?

Tina:
YES!!!

Who said romance was dead huh?

Anyhow, since then we've been kinda floating around grinning a lot. We've got plenty of time to get used to the idea though - as we have no money, we'll have to save some by working in Korea for a year. As you can see from my Plans page - the Autumn of 2007 seems like ideal timing.

We are thinking about getting hitched in London at a very low-key event (think "back room of nice cosy pub" rather than "17 course dinner at The Ritz").

Anyway, as I've got about 2 years till the wedding I can keep my International Playboy rep' for a while as a memento. It's very weird though… spent ages waiting for the right moment and now that it's done it's very surreal!

Exciting huh?

No help needed for me now!
